The 34th Annual Time Machines Antique Car Show & Flea Market will be held Sunday, July 22, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Guilford Fairgrounds, 111 Lovers Lane, Guilford. Rain or Shine.
Presented by the CT Area Classic Tbirds Club, Inc., this event has an expected attendance of 500 show cars. About 125 vendor spaces will be filled mostly with auto related items plus some general items to interest all our attendees. A portion of the proceeds benefits various charities. A 50/50 Raffle will be held to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
There is a good variety of antique vehicles to enjoy with 26 judged classes. Pick Ups and Commercials (including taxi, police, fire, military, hearse) will be the Featured Classes this year which gives these vehicles parking up front. Other classes are most often grouped by brand affiliation including stock & modified classes. There are also classes for muscle cars, street rods & foreign cars. Three of our unique Time Machines trophies are awarded per judged class plus additional trophies for the Best Un-restored vehicles, First, Second and Third and a President's Choice Trophy. For people who want to share their special cars newer than 1988, a display only, non judged class is available.
Metal dash plaques are given to the first 350 registrants, vehicles up to 1987. To be eligible for trophy, competition vehicles need to be on the show field by noon and be present for the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. There will be a car corral featuring cars for sale, multiple food vendors for breakfast, lunch, snacks, Ice Cream, music by a DJ, prizes, and clean permanent bathrooms. Spectator parking is free on site.
Admission is Adults $4, Sr $3, under 12-years-old free;

3 New National Awards Announced by Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA)
The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) introduces three new National Awards. The Corvette Award; The Military Vehicle Award; and The Thunderbird Award.
The Corvette Award. In honor of Mel Mann; in appreciation of his dedicated service to AACA and in recognition as a collector of fine Corvettes. Presented by South Florida Region Antique Automobile Club of America.
The Military Vehicle Award; presented for an outstanding military vehicle (Junior or Senior) entered in a national meet during the year. The manufactured vehicle should be legal for highway operation and the award will be based on the maintenance, preservation and/or restoration of the vehicle. This award was established in 2012 by the United States Marine Corps Motor Transport Association, Inc.
The Thunderbird Award; presented in the name of the Earl Tindol Family, in recognition of the Ford Thunderbird and its role in automotive history. This award is given to the most outstanding Thunderbird at an AACA national meet.
The AACA has established a comprehensive awards program to recognize outstanding achievement, superior contribution to the AACA and the hobby, participation in special events and restoration excellence. With 15 National Events held each year there are plenty of opportunities to win a National Award.
National Awards are presented to selected recipients based on criteria established by the Board of Directors. The awards are divided into two general groups. Some are presented for outstanding vehicles entered in AACA National Activities and others are presented for specific achievements of individuals or organizations. The trophies for these awards have been donated to the AACA and many of them memorialize specific individuals for their contribution to the automotive industry or to the Antique Automobile hobby. The original trophies are displayed at the AACA National Headquarters and recipients receive a magnificent crystal trophy.

Whaleyville Car and Bike Show Plus Rally
On Saturday, Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Whaleyville United Methodist Church will hold its 7th Annual Car/Bike Show & Rally on the church grounds, located at 11716 Sheppards Crossing Road.
Top 20 Trophies will be presented as well as a Best in Show Car and Best in Show Bike trophy, and dash plaques to the first 50 entries.
Gospel music, featuring God's Country Crossroads, Ashley Yoder & Family, Joe Dawson, Old Time Country Gospel Singers and others will be heard throughout the day. There will also be a silent auction, prayer tent, baked goods, scrapple sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs. A special area for children will include a moon bounce, volley ball and face painting.

Classic Car Show and Sock Hop in Newtown
Got an old car? Older than 1980? If so, bring it to Newtown for "Going Back in Time" -- a classic car show and sock hop. The Classic Nights Car Club is hosting the event at Masonicare at Newtown/Lockwood Lodge. Music will be provided by DJ Hank Rotzal. There will be food and refreshments, too.
Everyone is invited to bring their favorite classic cars, as long as they're older than that 1980 cutoff year. Peg Loulis, of Masonicare at Newtown, started the show through her car club eight years ago. She's been a member of the Classic Nights Car Club for 25 years. "The car club decided it would be a nice thing for the community and for the residents who live here," Loulis said. "We do one every Friday, May through October, at the Village Square Shopping Center on Route 111 in Monroe. We've been doing that one for 25 years as a community event; we've had as many as 200 cars there, or more." Loulis said residents at Masonicare -- where there's assisted living and nursing facilities -- love seeing the old cars when the annual show takes place there. Community members enjoy it, too.
"It brings back so many memories; also their families come, so it's an all-day event," Loulis added. "Volunteers bring residents down and tour them around. There's `People's Choice' awards, so everyone gets to vote on their favorite cars."
Owners of the winning vehicles receive trophies. There will be dash plaques, too. These are plaques engraved with the day of the event (car owners like to collect them). The plaques will be available for the first 50 cars. After the event, the Classic Nights Car Club will post pictures of the winners on its website, www.classicnights.com.

Illinois Car Show Announced
Gary Lang Auto Group is holding their 14th annual Classic Car Show Sunday, July 17th. The Show will go on rain or shine from 9 am – 3 pm. Registration for entries is from 9 am – 12 pm. Star 105.5 D.J. Jeff James will be on site to provide music and entertainment all day.
All makes and models are welcome and entry into the competition is free. Dash plaques will be handed out for the first 100 cars to arrive at the event. The awards ceremony begins at 3pm and trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each of the 26 categories. The categories encompass 110 years of automotive history and include classes such as “1900-1942 Street Rods” and “MOPAR 1955-1980.” The judges of the contest will be the owners of the classic cars themselves.
Admission to the public is free and everyone is welcome. Gary Lang stated, “We want to make sure the Classic Car Show is a fantastic experience for all our customers; there will be a D.J. playing music and food vendors will be on hand. The car selection should be incredibly diverse as we have classes for everyone, starting all the way back in 1900 and moving through the present. There are classes for stock, modified, street rods, MOPAR, Corvette and many others. We hope that this will be the best Classic Car Show yet.”
