Shannon Gaels Host Annual Dinner Dance

The Shannon Gaels Gaelic Football Club hosted its 2nd annual Dinner Dance on Saturday, November 19 at Riccardo's at the Bridge, Astoria, NY.

Many members of the GAA were presented with plaques and awards on the night to commemorate their exemplary service, including Larry McCarthy, New York GAA president. Danny McKenna, New York Minor Board president was also presented with a commemorative plaque.

The year 2011 was a very successful one for Shannon Gaels, in terms of trophies. On the night, Collie Mathers, Shannon Gaels chairman, introduced U-8 coach Sean Price with the Peter Henessey Cup, Robert Corridan with the U-10 Minor Board League Cup, and Richard Corridan with the U-14 Minor Board League Cup.

Liz Crawley also gave a great speech voicing her support for the Shannon Gaels cause: building a Celtic playing field in Brooklyn. Cha Connaughton as Master of Ceremonies kept the large crowd entertained all night, and the event was a huge success.
